Naomi Pitts

My name is Naomi Pitts and I am from Birmingham, Alabama. After graduating with my masters in Biosystems Engineers with a minor in Sustainability, I moved to North Caroline to pursue my Master Degree in the Biological and Agricultural Engineering Department. My research project involves investigating the resiliency of stormwater control measures (SCM’s) throughout the state. I am modeling a Regenerative Stormwater Conveyance System, two Bioretention Cells, and a Dry Detention Basin within PCSWMM. With the development of these models I can investigate how they perform under increasingly intense storm conditions and make modifications to the design to improve them. Beyond my research, I have many hobbies including pursuing scientific communication. I worked with NC PBS to produce a segment about my research and I am currently working on the Longview podcast project.
